York Way is a residential development close to Kings Cross. The design of the scheme was informed by Regent's Canal and the Islington Council's Biodiversity Action Plan.
The tender design proposal for the park embraced a new organic and
fluvial theme, with landscaped mounds and curving planting beds
enhancing overall biodiversity. Allotment areas were proposed in
hexagonal forms to mimic the efficient use of space in honeycombs. The
natural play area used sculpted landforms, natural stone boulders with
exciting activity trails to encourage 'all inclusive' creative play
where possible.
