RAVENSBOURNE PARK

LEWISHAM, LONDON

Inspiration for the landscape design is the adjacent Ravensbourne River, Ladywell Fields Park, river gabion walls and wet woodlands. Undisturbed rich woodland undergrowth would provide a rich wildlife habitat whilst nesting the development within a soft envelope.

Pedestrians would access the dwelling through a raised timber board-walk that would stretch across a woodland undergrowth and dry river stream collecting water from building downpipes. Access would be Part M compliant and constructed in such a way to preserve existing tree roots. The raised board-walk deck access riverside theme continues at the back of the building where private amenity raised decking provide viewing platforms to the woodland setting.

A landscape surface water attenuation and infiltration strategy would be satisfied by a levelled porous gravel car park surface, a board-walk and amenity decks floating over tree roots and preserving permeability of the site, and dry river stream collecting and attenuating water from downpipes.
